Meet Abigail
Certified Christian Life Coach
Hey there! My name is Abigail and I’m a wife, mom, writer, and Certified Christian Life Coach with a Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. I’ve counseled couples, individuals, kids and families through some pretty tough stuff. More significantly, I’ve walked this journey with my husband, two biological kids and around 30 disadvantaged boys for whom we were Relief House Parents at the Milton Hershey School for six years. I get it. Marriage is hard. Family is hard. ADHD makes it exponentially more difficult. But God’s Word is alive and active (Heb. 4:12) and will show us how to flourish in an increasingly fractured world. I've compiled what I've learned through my counseling and life experiences, as well as from the Bible, to develop my Flourishing Framework, which will help your family set and achieve your goals of teamwork, organization, and healthy communication.
Of all the definitions of life coaching, I like Oprah's the best. She says, "A Life Coach Isn't a Therapist, But Here's What They Do. Think of them like an action-oriented mentor who can help you reach your goals." The difference between therapy and coaching is that therapy focuses on healing from the past, coaching helps you identify your goals for the future and provides a safe place to keep you accountable to reaching those goals. Think of it as the extra push you need to get through those rough waters. It's more of a natural, comfortable relationship than counseling, so it's the perfect environment for the whole family to set and achieve goals together.
How do we define family?
Families can vary drastically in this day and age. So what do we mean by a family at Flourishing Family Coaching? The families we coach are single parents, married or engaged couples with dependent children from birth to 18 years old seeking to do family God's way as described in the Bible.
